How To Run - Running Tips for Runners

Crossfit is extremely poplular these days. The gyms in the United States are filling up fast and now the movement is taking over other continents throughout the world.

I’ve been a member of Goodlife Health Clubs in Sydney’s Shelly Street for nearly 2 years now. The gym has new equipment and plenty of room if you want to workout. It’s only a bit busy during lunch hours, which I usually tend to avoid anyway. Sometimes I get lucky and there are only 3 other people in the whole gym! Now how often does that happen?

The membership fee is currently $91 dollars a month. Now this isn’t cheap in but since its also across the road from where I work I pretty much have zero excuses not to make the best out of my membership… It is also quite on par compared to other gyms in Sydney. The staff is great and I love going there which also helps to go the gym…  *end plug*

Anyway, since I’ve signed up for Tough Mudder I’m doing a few more crossfit type of exercises instead of just using the machines to bulk up a bit and the occasional run on the treadmill.

So I thought I’d be a great idea to see what crossfit gyms there were in my area and the closest one was in the city. I looked online how much they were charging to participate in their workout or to join the gym… They were asking for $200 dollars a MONTH!

I could not believe it… $200 dollars to join in on group sessions and workout? You have got to be kidding me.

So I looked around and there was another crossfit gym which looked a bit smaller and also a bit older… so I thought this has to be a bit cheaper.. It wasn’t. They were asking for 250 dollars a month!

*Insert naughty word* that noise …

So I  did some research on some other alternatives that could save you some money, here is one option.

bodyrock

BodyRock.TV website. These guys use their YouTube channel to give you a new workout routine EVERY DAY! And you pay them in sweat. Yes they don’t charge for anything!

BodyRock.TV has grown to one of the biggest channels on YouTube boasting 511,375 subscribers and 526,433,616 views. They have uploaded nearly 600 video’s for you to workout to. And yes… all this bodyrock goodness for $0 dollars.

If you do a Google search for “BodyRock + Your Country” there might already be a chapter for your country available. This is more for people to comment and support each other in your own language.

But if you are lucky there might even be some video’s in your language. If not, the boys and girls from BodyRock.TV are from Canada so you should be able to understand them… eh….

So, you got a great alternative to crossfit for which you don’t even have to leave the house!

I’d love to hear your opinion on Crossfit and their “Larger than your wallet prices”. I mean I love to workout and I love the type exercises that crossfit provides. I basically love / want to participate in the whole crossfit experience but you have to pay more than the platinum membership anywhere else…

Talk soon,

Ralph
